How we pay the bills

In order to provide you with transparency and in that spirit, we would like to share how we make money. This website & our podcasts may be compensated through third party advertisers.

Our podcasts and episodes may have companies that are show partners who pay as a fee. We also have various other advertising campaigns throughout the year on all of our podcasts.

We also receive money from charging a fee for online money courses, webinars and referrals to financial advisers, mortgage brokers and accountants when we introduce you. Sometimes a financial adviser, accountant or mortgage broker will pay us a fee to advertise on our podcast or to be a guest on our show. Any referral fees paid to us will be disclosed to you by the professional we referred you to (this is the law). There is no additional cost to you by using our referral service.

We also strive to keep its information accurate and up to date. This information we present may be different than what you see when you visit a financial institution, service provider or specific product’s site. All financial products and services are presented without warranty. We do our best to maintain updated information on all products and services we cover, but given the fast changing digital environment, it is hard to do in all circumstances. We may also sell display advertising, both directly and through third parties such as Google AdSense.

When you click to apply for certain products and services through our site, we may receive compensation from the company that issues that product (affiliate commission). We do not do affiliate marketing for financial products. This compensation enables us to maintain our growing community, and provide current content, many of which we don’t receive compensation for. It also helps us support our team, who research and stay up-to-date on the latest money topics and offerings for you.

The analysis and opinions on our site are those of SYMO Interactive Pty Ltd.

We believe you are entitled to fair and accurate information, regardless of compensation involved.

We appreciate your trust in using our site and podcasts for information and using our links to apply for products.

We strive to be transparent about which products we receive compensation for.

We will endeavour to disclose commercial relationships so a reasonable person would be able to acknowledge that it’s a paid arrangement or ad.

Specifically, any podcast episodes that feature a product or service in which we are paid for that episode are disclosed in the podcast show notes for each episode, as “this is a sponsored episode”.

“My trusted advisers” advisers & brokers must meet the stated criteria on the “get help” page. Some professionals we refer individuals to, do not pay us a fee or pay to advertise with us - we just send people to the most appropriate professional.

Integrity measures

While life is grey and we can’t please everyone (sorry), we will only accept money from companies or brands that we believe will benefit our audience and align with our own personal views & teachings.

Linked websites

We provide links to third party sites. Since we do not control these websites, we encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on these (and all) third party sites.

Children

This website is aimed at Australian residents over the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. We encourage parents to go online with their kids.

Here are a few tips to help make a child's online experience safer:

  • Teach kids never to give personal information (name, address, phone, school, etc), unless supervised by a parent or responsible adult.

  • Know the sites your kids are visiting and which sites are appropriate. Look for Web site privacy policies.

  • Know how your child's information is treated.

We can only read cookies from our website. We may display advertisements from third parties. Third party ad-serving companies control which ads are shown. These ad-serving companies may use cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information from you. Advertisers use this information to target the ads and measure their impact. We do not have access to the contents of these cookies.

Your name & email

If you sign up to our mailing list, we use Active Campaign and only ask for your name and email address. We will never hand out your name or email address to any other organisation (we may however use this information for Facebook & Instagram ads). We do not use your data for any other advertising, other than our own products and services. We will never ask you for any personal details and ask you notify us if you believe there has been a security breach. If you complete the form in the “get help” section, we will forward this information to one of our trusted advisers when we introduce you.

Non Personal Information

We have a presence on various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn. We receive anonymous and aggregated demographic and use data related to our presence on those platforms. We use tracking software to analyse traffic on this website or any supported devices, including tablets and other mobile devices. We do this to understand our customers' and visitors' needs and to continually improve our site. This web tracking software collects anonymous, aggregate statistics. Examples include internet protocol addresses, the date and time when you use our services, the type of computer browser, and the operating system that you used. We may aggregate and make anonymous your personal information, in part, so that we better understand how our Services are working in the aggregate. We may use and disclose this aggregated and anonymous data without restriction.

Social media

We may run polls in our Facebook group or on our Instagram page, and may sell the results to advertisers (let’s be honest, they can just look at the results publicly in the group anyway!). We do not ever disclose any other information than the aggregate poll results (i.e. no individual names etc).

Making money

We don’t work for free, and neither should you!

All podcasts under the SYMO interactive banner and associated social media pages & groups are used to make money, so we can continue to offer free podcasts to you. SYMO interactive Pty Ltd is a private company. We will always disclose when content online is sponsored or paid. If in doubt, just assume everything is an ad ;)

With the revenue we receive from the above activities, SYMO interactive supports 5 full-time employees, and up to 8 other contractors.
